THE SHEPHERD’S HOUSE WOMEN’S SHELTER

A Home for Recovery and Community

Bend had an 8% increase in chronic homelessness over last year, per the most recent Point-In-Time Homeless Count published by the< Central Oregon Homeless Leadership Coalition. The Shepherd’s House Ministries wants to change those numbers with their woman’s shelter and program designed for homeless women and single mothers to heal and reintegrate back into society. The 1-2-year program includes counseling, job training, life skills, and child care.

Pinnacle is helping The Shepherd’s House with options. We designed a concept for a three-story home for 40 women and their children. A welcoming front porch conveys the feeling of home and thoughtful site planning provides a protective space for healing. The first floor is focused on operations including classrooms, kitchen and dining, daycare, and office space. The remaining living floors combine private rooms with living and lounge spaces to facilitate community.

While fundraising occurs to make this vision a reality, Pinnacle is helping Shepherd’s House with options to reconfigure / expand their existing women’s program location.
