Rolling Sage
A New Dawn for Madras Families
Nearly a third of Madras households are cost-burdened (paying more than 30% of their income on housing) due to the lack of affordable housing. Rolling Sage (aka Red Canyon II), situated just north of the commercial district, added 23 quality, 2-bedroom homes to relieve the pressure for Madras’ workforce.
The new development includes two 3-story buildings, many with remarkable views of the Cascade Mountains. The exterior design features multiple dark/light patterns typically seen in townhouses bringing a more residential, comfortable scale to the development. The residents have a place to mingle in the shared community room which includes an outdoor pergola-covered patio for additional gathering space.
What makes this project truly unique is the City’s support of the project. Not only did they provide support in the planning and permitting phase, but they also donated an acre of land adjacent to the project for a community park. The green park space will connect the nearby affordable housing complex, Canyon East, which Pinnacle also designed.
This project was part of an Oregon Housing & Community Services funded portfolio, including Canyon Edge. Both projects were designed and constructed simultaneously. Through great collaboration with Housing Works and R&H Construction, construction was completed successfully during the pandemic.
