Project Description

PRAIRIE HOUSE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

A Design Influenced by Central Oregon

Specially designed for the mentally-disabled, Prairie House is an affordable housing community for those at or below 50% of the median income who qualify for mental health services. The design is welcoming and comfortable to provide an environment to become self-sufficient and create a community with shared laundry and a common room. An onsite manager helps the residents live safe and functioning lives.

Community involvement was an important part of this project’s acceptance in the community. Pinnacle’s public participation and the design of the building helped successfully integrated it into the community. Central Oregon’s sunshine, juniper trees, and lava rock influenced the color palette. Prairie House proves affordable housing can look as good or better than market rate apartments.
