OSU EXTENSION SERVICES
Building Strong Communities
For more than 100 years, OSU has partnered with counties across Oregon to provide research-based knowledge and education to strengthen communities and economies, sustain natural resources, and promote healthy families and individuals. To support these efforts in Deschutes County, the extension services office made their home at the fairgrounds in 2002. The design mimics the character of the fairground’s surrounding buildings with natural stone and industrial siding.
An annex building was constructed nearly 20 years later alongside the main office to support the growing programs and supporting staff. OSU’s Extension Services is home to more than 20 employees offering programs in Horticulture, Forestry & Natural Resources, 4-H Youth Development, Family and Community Development, and Nutrition Education. We worked closely with the staff to ensure proper space planning for the diverse needs of each program. An expansive training room with a full-size teaching kitchen is host to numerous programs, including food safety and preservation. Efficient office space, workroom, and storage support the needs of the staff.
