OSU CASCADES INNOVATION CO-LAB
Designing for Innovation
OSU – Cascade’s Graduate and Research Center houses staff offices, classrooms, collaboration space, and the OSU Innovation Co-Lab. Once an office building, the Center has gone through multiple renovations. The latest renovation, reconfiguring portions of the second floor, provides better use of space for faculty and students. The design adds a hallway, two collaboration/classroom spaces, additional storage, and a defined entrance and branding for the Innovation Co-Lab space.
The Innovation Co-Lab is “an incubator that leverages the power of Oregon State University-Cascades and the community in Bend to help innovators who are launching new products or services.” OSU needed a more modern and efficient space to fuel this innovation. Pinnacle created a brand for the Co-Lab within the Center. Youthful, clean, and stylish graphics, materials, and furnishings create an energizing atmosphere for the many entrepreneurs using the space.
In addition to rebranding the space, general maintenance items were included in the scope, including adding additional security features to the first-floor lobby, replacement of the eastern stairs, and repair of exterior concrete stairs. Providing security, controlling sound between spaces, and blending the existing and renovated areas were top design priorities.
