Madras Food Pantry

“Hunger is a story we can end.” This is one step closer.

The Madras Food Pantry has grown from handing out food through an office window when it began in 1995 to serving as many as 800 families annually. The pantry’s need for an expansion has become a high priority. They signed a 20-year lease for an existing building in Madras, marking a significant milestone towards achieving its long-held goal.

The renovation and addition include a grocery-style program, welcoming hospitality waiting area, office space, teaching/demonstration kitchen for the community, and an outdoor patio area for additional waiting areas in the warmer months. The exterior design reflects the Madras Food Pantry’s brand, friendly and welcoming, which carries through to the interiors.

The focus of design for the Food Pantry is to change our perspective on how food pantries operate and distribute food, by prioritizing client choice, almost like a grocery store. With the expansion, the Food Pantry aspires to bring several new and different programs for the community of Madras, and surrounding areas to address the multi-faceted needs of their clients.
