ELGIN FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC
A New Place of Health and Wellness for the Community
The Elgin Family Health Clinic has been functioning from a 1,900 SF, outdated, and overcrowded space for more than 50 years. Pinnacle was chosen through a competitive process to design a new, efficient health center combining medical, dental, physical therapy, behavioral health, and pharmacy under one roof to serve the community of Elgin. The primary goals are to meet a limited budget, integrate the needs and desires of all the individual users, and plan for growth.
The building, owned by Elgin Health District, leases space for the different service offerings; therefore, the design needed to be flexible and marketable. During the design process, workflows were analyzed to create a floor plan based on efficient travel distances. The interiors are designed to be warm and welcoming, with lots of natural light and neutral tones with wood accents. Pops of blue are inspired by the nearby river to create a calming, healing environment. The lobby includes a large waiting room with a children’s area to welcome families.
“After more than five decades, we’re excited to expand and enhance our facility and service offerings to provide complete healthcare in a rural setting better. The new health center design is efficient and welcoming, and it will make a remarkable impact on the health of our community.” – Jarod Rogers, Elgin Health District Board Treasurer
