College View Affordable Housing

Tackling the housing shortage in Central Oregon requires developers to bring a diversity of housing options to the market, there is no one-size-fits-all. As the first of its kind in Oregon, the Simpson development includes affordable rental units and ownership units side by side. Developed by Housing Works and designed by Pinnacle Architecture, the rental units consist of College View, a 59-unit multi-family community comprised of one, two, and three-bedroom homes.

Located on Bend’s west side across the street from OSU Cascades, the location is ideal for alternative transportation options including biking and public transportation. The development includes improved pedestrian routes along Simpson Avenue and additional bike and pedestrian connections to the north. The design team worked closely with the owner to engage the local neighborhood and community, enlisting feedback and input on design options through an in-person community meeting and ongoing options to provide virtual feedback.

Designed with families in mind, the community includes a playground, a dog run, and indoor and outdoor community spaces and offers proximity to grocery shopping, banking services, medical facilities, and recreational opportunities.
