CAPECO Office and Food Warehouse
Designing a Modern Food Hub to Serve Communities in Need
CAPECO Food Warehouse + Headquarters Renovation
Pinnacle renovated an existing historic brick building, formerly a newspaper printing press, into a functional food warehouse and administrative headquarters for the Community Action Program of East Central Oregon (CAPECO). CAPECO supports youth, adults, and seniors by working to eliminate poverty and promote independence through education, employment, and essential resources.
The upgraded warehouse completed by a Design/Build partnership with Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company now serves as a regional distribution hub, supplying supplemental food to pantries throughout Umatilla, Morrow, Gilliam, and Wheeler counties for individuals and families experiencing immediate need. The industrial space was reconfigured to optimize operational flow with dedicated areas for receiving, repacking, refrigeration, freezer storage, dry storage, and shipping. Designing dedicated zones and flow reduces handling time and errors. A new break room provides a comfortable space for staff and volunteers who support daily warehouse operations.
