Aviva Health Expansion
Training the Next Generation of Rural Healthcare Providers
Aviva Health is an independent, not-for-profit organization that cares for the people of Douglas County. They provide quality, compassionate, accessible, and affordable healthcare. As with many rural communities, Douglas County struggles with recruiting physicians to the area. To support Aviva’s strategic planning efforts, Pinnacle was engaged to expand its headquarters in Roseburg to include a new teaching health center dedicated to a family medicine residency program. Eight physicians will rotate through the rural healthcare program annually, providing potential physicians for Douglas County and other rural areas.
Pinnacle is working collaboratively with the client to create a modern facility that reflects their recent rebrand to Aviva Health (formally Umpqua Community Health Center). The two-story addition ties seamlessly into their current building. A central lobby connects the existing clinic to the new teaching center, which includes four pods. Each teaching pod has a consult room, procedure room, eight exam rooms, and office space for the students. The second floor is dedicated to consolidating Aviva’s administrative staff with a mix of private offices and open workspaces. A large multi-purpose room becomes a community resource. The room includes a teaching kitchen for community classes, and it can be divided into three smaller rooms for various purposes. The existing clinic is being renovated to expand the women’s health and pediatrics departments.
