Driven by a passion for architecture that considers all people, Mel works to improve the world through design. Discovering their love for design a decade into their career, Mel’s professional career began as an insurance adjuster in Virginia. Architecture piqued their interest, and after taking a night class, they decided to dive into the field and have yet to look back. Mel leverages their exceptional communication abilities to work with clients to prioritize project goals and deliver positive outcomes that meet each client’s unique needs. Their project portfolio perfectly samples their interest in community-focused work, including culturally specific affordable housing, education, and non-profit developments. Mel has practiced architecture in Oregon, Washington, California, and Kansas, including both rural and urban sites.
When they are not working in the built environment, Mel enjoys spending time in the natural world, trekking through the Pacific Northwest with their wife and two dogs, snowboarding on fresh powder, or playing video games.
